How to sign up for OTTO Market 

We currently still process all requests individually and check the basic requirements and basic capabilities for each retailer. We do this to offer you a fair marketplace of high quality. As soon as you have registered as a seller on otto.market and provided you meet all the necessary criteria, you will receive an e-mail from us with the login data for our partner portal OTTO Partner Connect.  Our step-by-step guide will take you through the registration process.

Step by step instructions 

1. Registration

Register as a seller for OTTO Market using the registration form.

 

We check the basic requirements and capabilities for each retailer before we enable a connection to otto.de. We do this to offer you a fair marketplace of high quality. Your registration is without any commitment.

 

After your registration, you will be notified by us how things will proceed for you.

2. Access to OTTO Partner Connect

If you meet all the basic requirements, you will receive an e-mail with your login data for our partner portal OTTO Partner Connect and start the connection.

In order to protect the use of the partner portal and the data that can be accessed there on a user-specific basis, authentication is required to confirm the identity of the individual user. In this way, you are protected if someone else tries to log in with your login data. Every time you log in, you have to authenticate yourself with a second factor after entering your login data. You have to configure this factor the first time.

3. Two-factor authentication setup

Two-factor authentication increases the protection of your account and ensures that only you can access your account, even if someone else knows your password.

 

For this purpose, please install the corresponding authentication app on your smartphone or tablet and use the barcode scanner included in the app to scan the barcode shown.  

We recommend one of the following apps for authentication:

 

  • Google Authenticator
  • FreeOTP Authenticator

After the activation, you must enter a six-digit security code generated via the authentication app in addition to the password every time you log in.

4. Company information

First of all, we need more detailed information about your company. This includes, among other things, the complete company name (incl. legal form), the address and other information about your company specific to the legal form. 

 

This information is used to provide you with a contract offer.  

 

We then match the data you entered in the company information with the data stored at the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt).

5. Seller information 

In order to be able to contact you internally regarding customer enquiries and invoices, OTTO requires your contact information in the next step of the connection. Your email address and telephone number for the imprint will be displayed to customers in the OTTO app and on the OTTO website.  

 

The connection also requires information on legal requirements, such as the system participation of your packaging, the return of old appliances and the FSCĀ® sustainability seal. 

 

In addition, you have the option of stating your seller name, which is displayed to customers directly on your products, and an addendum to the OTTO data protection declaration.

6. Contract

After providing your company and seller information, we will make the platform terms of use available to you directly in the partner portal. These correspond to the contract you conclude with OTTO in order to be able to sell via the marketplace. 

 

Please note that the contract is subject to the condition precedent of the effective conclusion of the payment service framework contract with OTTO Payments and the existence of a valid German VAT identification number. You agree to the payment service framework contract as part of the connection to OTTO Payments. The connection is necessary in order to be able to process all payment activities at OTTO for you.

7. Connection to OTTO Payments

In order to successfully complete the connection to OTTO Payments, our own payment service provider, various steps are necessary. As a trusted partner, OTTO Payments takes over the legitimation check and then transfers your data to CRIF GmbH.

 

The following steps are taken:  

 

1. Sign the payment service framework contract

2. Enter legitimation information

 

  • Details of your company
  • Details of the collection account
  • Details of the applicant
  • Details of legally represented persons
  • Details of beneficial owners

3. Pass legitimation check

8. Legitimation check

Based on the data provided, the legitimation check is run through. This can take up to fifteen working days. You can track the status of the legitimation check at any time in the partner portal. The legitimation check includes the following four individual checks:  

 

  • Creditworthiness
  • Company identification
  • Personal identification
  • Risk assessment

9. Let`s go

Once the connection to OTTO Payments has been successfully completed, you will have full access to the partner portal. Please note that from now on the monthly basic fee will be charged.

 

You can now start adding your products and establish your selling ability.  At the beginning, your selling ability is still restricted. To remove this restriction, you need to provide information about your shipping and returns process, as well as carry out a test order and inform yourself about the ordering process.  

 

You can either add the items manually using the partner portal or upload all product details via the OTTO Market API.
